dj solar

this is dj solar's cart, a fact which was explained to me by two gentlemen outside of a store where the cart was parked in Oakland. The cart contains what looks like a solar powered sound mystery wonder machine. Speakers and wires pop out under the layers of a blanket sloth burying the precious electronics under him like delicate secrets he doesn't need jacked. I did not see any turntables, but they could have been in the suitcase. dj solar was otherwise occupied inside the store, and could not be reached at that moment.

my next mission is to track down the dj, wish me luck.

Basement Zoo - Part 1 of 2

Animals for Awareness is a unique non-profit organization that I was very lucky to have worked with about 3 years ago. I became aware of the organization when I met Matt Olsen a biologist/herpotologist who works at the Chicago Reptile House, in Orland Park. He mentioned to me that he volunteered at a very interestingly located, exotic animal rescue shelter: AFA, Animals for Awareness run by Kim Schilling of Palos Park, Il. The shelter is located in the basement and backyard of her residential home in Palos Park. The shelter is a legal non-profit organization. They have all the permits and licenses necessary to operate from the home that they do, and what an interesting home indeed.

part 1 of 2 to come
with contact information in case you're interested in volunteering or donating

Animals for Awareness has a strict no kill policy. When illegal animals or animals that are inappropriate to keep in a home are abandoned or discovered by local authorities AFA offers a home.

Howl

"I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by madness, starving hysterical naked,
dragging themselves through the negro streets at dawn looking for an angry fix,
angelheaded hipsters burning for the ancient heavenly connection to the starry dynamo in the machinery of night,
who poverty and tatters and hollow-eyed and high sat up smoking in the supernatural darkness of cold-water flats floating across the tops of cities contemplating jazz,
who bared their brains to Heaven under the El and saw Mohammedan angels staggering on tenement roofs illuminated..." (Allen Ginsberg, howl)
